Door Lockset / Knob
Hardware · Moderate
Passage, privacy, or keyed entry sets. Sticky latches and loose knobs are usually fixable; a wobbly keyed set is a security issue — replace promptly.

Maintenance
every 1 year
Tools you may need
- Phillips screwdriver
- Tape measure
Steps
- Open the door and remove the two through-bolts from the interior half.
- Pull both halves out of the bore, noting latch orientation.
- Swap the latch if needed, then feed the new spindle through and bolt the halves together.
- Test latch, lock, and key operation before closing the door.
Maintenance
Tighten through-bolts yearly; graphite (not oil) in keyed cylinders. (Suggested interval: every 1 year.)
